The anonymously-financed Heritage Foundation (with money from people who do not want to be held to account for their fascist activities) and several high-ranking appointees of the previous Trump Administration have created a policy document called Project 25. It sets out the objectives for a far right presidency.

It is so far to the right as to devolve into self-parody at times, but they are deadly serious about their agenda. From this and from the horse’s ass’s own mouth here is what we know:

Trump will declare a national emergency and suspend the Constitution and presidential elections. He has promised “no more elections” if he becomes president. He will insulate himself from prosecution for his crimes by corrupting the Department of Justice. He will praise and pardon the January 6th insurrectionists, even those responsible for the death of police officers. Abortion will be outlawed entirely. Billionaires will get even further tax breaks so they pay less than middle class taxpayers. Trump will ban Muslims from entry into the U.S. and look for new ways to demean and insult patriotic Muslim Americans. He will create mass detention facilities and fill them with undocumented people, even those married to American citizens. He will return to separating children from their parents at the border, just to make their lives worse than the hell they are fleeing from back home. He will fire apolitical civil servants and replace them with MAGA loyalists. Any attempt to regulate guns will be killed. His political opponents (even those elected to the House or Senate) will be prosecuted for bogus, imaginary transgressions. He will abandon Ukraine and leave the proud defenders of freedom to die at the hands of Russian soldiers. He will withdraw the U.S. from NATO, the single most important reason we have not yet experienced the Third World War. He will encourage Russian expansionism. Trump will say not a word of reproach to Israel’s gruesome slaughter of innocent civilians. Oh, and if the lunatic ideas of JD Vance are included they will also give parents of children under 18 a second, third or fourth vote to ensure that the 20% of households with children at home vote for Republicans. The other 80% of us will pay the bill.

And Trump himself? He will again spend his days watching TV and goofing off, yelling and acting juvenile by spraying the walls with catsup. In his last term he spent almost a full year playing golf. That is 307 golf days. You paid an incredible $102,000,000 in travel and security expenses for Trump to golf, even though you had to work most of those days. Even with minimal effort Trump was able to govern through chaos, lies and misdirection.

Trump promises to destroy the America we love and replace it with a twisted, apocalyptic reality of what might have been had the Nazis won the Second World War. One might expect that instead of demonizing and murdering Jews this time anyone Black or Hispanic (or any race other than caucasian) is at risk from arbitrary authority and the suspension of the rule of law. This can take the form of racist cops who are not convicted when murdering suspects, or states that require women register their menstrual cycles with public authorities. It would even lead to the deployment of American soldiers to kill American citizens exercising their right to protest. You cannot say you were not warned. You were most definitely warned. Will it inspire a feeling of helplessness or mobilize you to action?
