If an insurrection led by a President of the US to overthrow the results of the election does not disqualify someone from taking an oath to defend the Constitution then nothing ever will.

Trump invited, planned and promoted right wing zealots to attack and invade the US Capitol, find and hang the Vice President at the gallows they erected, excused and lied about who they were and has promised to, if elected, pardon all these insurrectionists.  This disqualifies Trump.  It is now clear from his actions that he is not the person for the job of upholding, protecting and defending the Constitution.

Trump denied it in the strongest terms, but as always when confronted by bigotry, hatred and violence by his supporters, in his name, he found a way to remain cordial with the ever-smoldering embers of American fascism.  

This irresponsible and suicidal malfeasance should by itself be disqualifying.  No person who performed so poorly should ever be given another chance.

 

I don’t know that any other moment in modern American history threatened the end of the republic.  The small group of armed American Trump supporters still sit tensely, with a finger on the trigger, waiting for January 2025.
