The Money Behind the 1/6/21 Insurrection
The wealthy white benefactor who paid for it all
The confidential source known as Deep Throat advised the Washington Post’s Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward to “follow the money” to understand the crimes of Watergate. Let’s do that with January 6th.
As early as the day after the election the Oath Keepers began preparing for a “civil war.” In a members-only video conference. Its leader Stewart Rhodes set out their plan to interrupt the transfer of power to the victor of the presidential election.
Roger Stone’s Stop the Steal group posted on December 23, 2020 plans to storm and occupy the Capitol, and he sent out a video to raise funds “for the staging, the transportation and most importantly the security” of the event. Her money was also used for a robocall campaign that urged people to “march to the Capitol Building and call on Congress to stop the steal.” The Oath Keepers began to stash an arsenal of weapons. By mid-December Proud Boys were photographed displaying the antisemetic slogan 6MWE, meaning “Six Million Was Not Enough.” They asked for money on their Website to purchase concealed tactical vests and radios in preparation. Earlier they called for supporters to “Storm the Winter Palace,” an apparent reference to the U.S. Capitol but also a target of the Communist uprising in Russia, their revolutionary inspiration.
The 72-year-old heiress to the Publix supermarket fortune, Julie Jenkins Fancelli, budgeted $3M to underwrite the costs of this event and can be shown to have spent at least $650,000. The money was given to convicted liar and conspiracist Alex Jones and used to reserve the Ellipse. Activist and insurrectionist Charlie Kirk used her money to send over 80 buses to the Capitol.
This was anything but a spontaneous uprising of aggrieved patriots. It was planned and paid for from the same network of wannabe revolutionaries that funds even the mainstream right.
Please see Wikipedia “January 6 United States Capitol attack,” curiously left unedited by the righwing wackos online who remain proud of their lawlessness and who vow to complete the job. Five people were killed, four Capitol Police Officers were so distraught they took their own lives and 174 police officers were wounded. The attack caused damages exceeding $2.7M. That is exactly what Mrs. Fancelli got for her money. She, too, is a co-conspirator.
